I am a Security Analyst on the InfoSec team at Qualtrics. My primary focus is dedicated to supporting the Third-Party Risk Management team (TPRM). As a TPRM Security Analyst I am responsible for conducting comprehensive vendor risk assessments for suppliers and partners during their onboarding process. Essentially, I decide whether or not the security controls and processes of potential partners and suppliers meet our defined standards.
I meticulously evaluate vendors who have access to sensitive Qualtrics data, ensuring they adhere to our stringent security benchmarks.
I juggle a workload of over 25 security assessments at a time, maintaining consistent communication with business representative from the companies undergoing assessment throughout the entire process.
In this role, I've learned to be efficient in relaying information through documentation.
Beyond my TPRM responsibilities, I respond to all of the Qualtrics Trust Center requests.
Adding to this, I am fortunate to be part of an exceptional team at Qualtrics that not only encourages but also supports my efforts to innovate. I actively explore enhancements for both the Trust Center and the broader TPRM program, amplifying the program's overall impact.
In an exciting development, I am currently spearheading the training of a new addition to the TPRM team, underscoring my commitment to advancing the department's capabilities.
During my tenure at Qualtrics, I have cultivated a range of vital skills, including:
The Third-Party Risk team manager sent a very kind message to my team about my performance at Qualtrics: "A huge thanks to Tyler H for the help, not only since he's joined, but over the last quarter for all of the help in working on implementing the new questionnaire and new assessment document, as well as updating our internal process documents, while also completing assessments. You'd forget he only works part time given the amount of work he gets done! Thank you Tyler!"
I'm excited to see what else we can accomplish!
I've always been interested in ecommerce and I finally decided to give it a shot! In March 2023 I started a new venture in and founded my own ecommerce business, SwiftSale.
SwiftSale is the perfect outlet for me to practice business skills such as marketing, pricing, supply-chain management, business management, sales, and more. I sell athletic apparel and footwear but I'm looking to branch out into new areas soon.
In just 5 months, I've managed to generate 40,000 in personal revenue on Amazon and I've sold over 600 units. I've built an efficient system to where I spend low hours during the week managing SwiftSale and more time selling.
Running my own ecommerce business has been a blast and I'm excited for what's in store for the future with SwiftSale.
I've worked on many projects during my years at BYU. Some of the projects below were with a team, and some were by myself. I put a lot of effort into each of these projects. I hope you enjoy! More projects are in the making... 👀
During the BYU INTEX 2022 competition, my team of four classmates and I created UtahCarSafety.com. We achieved a commendable 4th place among 50+ teams. Each of us contributed around 70 hours to the project. UtahCarSafety.com aims to raise awareness about the alarmingly high rate of fatal car crashes in Utah. We designed the site to be interactive and informative website to engage visitors and convey crucial information.
UtahCarSafety.com Features:
Unfortunately, due to the high monthly AWS costs, the site is no longer publicly hosted.
The Opioid Safety application was my first major project. Three of my classmates and I dedicated a full week (approximately 70 hours each) to working on this project during the INTEX 2021 competition.
The web application displays data about prescribers and prescription drugs. It enables users to add, edit, delete, and search for prescribers and drugs. Additionally, it offers various analyses of prescribed opioids. This website, along with all its related data, is intended for use by government agencies combating the opioid crisis. It also aims to educate prescribers about the dangers of opioids.
Starting with the most basic feature, OpioidSaftey.com contains detailed information about the dangers of opioids and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The purpose of the site is to educate readers about how quick an opioid SUD can develop, and about the severity of the current opioid crisis. We used datasets which included details about drugs, prescribers, and states. Using this data, we created a predictor and recommender in a machine learning environment. We implemented both in our website so that stakeholders will be able to input their information and receive a prediction or recommendation based on specific criteria. The predictor helps government agencies find prescribers who are more at-risk to over-prescribe opioids, and the recommender will help prescribers in finding non-opioid alternatives.
For a span of four weeks, a group of friends and I dedicated our time to volunteering with Y-Serve, a program catering to service opportunities for BYU students. During this period, our team effectively organized and cleaned two decades' worth of Y-Serve data, enabling comprehensive analysis of the historical records.
Leveraging the refined dataset, we designed and constructed a Domo dashboard, crafting visual representations and conducting an in-depth data analysis. Personally, I invested 20 hours into this project. We are confident that the polished dataset and the Domo dashboard will serve as valuable tools for BYU Y-Serve, bolstering their efforts to attract a larger volunteer base for their program.
I built Ty's Bookstore in my Enterprise Application Development class. My goal was to build an application similar to the original Amazon bookstore. I built this application using a Postgres database, C++, and MVC framework. Admin capabilites are available after logging in. Admins have CRUD capabilities to add, edit, and delete books from the database directly from the website.
